For the sportsman...
Lakes located in our area include: Waubay, Bitter, Antelope, Reetz, Enemy Swim, Pickerel, Blue Dog, Cattail-Kettle, Opitz, Hazeldon, Amsden, Horseshoe, Swan, Goose, Rush, Minnewasta, and Lynn. We are located at the southwest corner of Lynn Lake and nine miles west of Waubay Lake. Lynn has been well known as a sportsman's paradise for years. The tradition is now continuing even as the land is now underwater, becoming one of the best bluegill/perch/walleye lakes in the area. Lynn is now one of South Dakota's newest Musky lakes. It is quite common to catch a Musky over 40 inches, and they are approaching trophy proportions. For the ice fisherman, we have solid and portable shacks, augers, and electrical equipment available for rent. Boat rental and year round guide service is also available for the rest of the year.
WATERFOWL...
Again, the recent rains and snowfall have replenished our lakes and sloughs leaving a waterfowl population to an extent that hasn't been seen for many years. Canadian, snow, and blue geese migrate through the area in high numbers as do an unlimited number of mallards, wood ducks, pintails, and more. Being located in the center of over 40,000 acres of public hunting lands make this area a perfect affordable waterfowl destination. Licenses can be purchased over the counter for spring white goose, September Canada goose, and on a lottery system for regular season waterfowl (drawing deadline is in late Spring).
PHEASANTS...
Special wildflower seeding designed to attract pheasants, many acres of CRP, mild winters, increasing number of food plots and conservation measures by local farmers seem to be helping replenish our supply of these beautiful birds. Local clubs, such as Pheasants Forever, want to insure the survival of our pheasant population in our area, and we are working closely with these and other organizations in northeast South Dakota to attain these goals. All of these factors are helping establish one of our highest bird numbers in over 40 years!
